Who is responsible
This website is operated by Corbo Counseling, the private practice of Raymond S. Corbo, Jr., LMFT, licensed in New Jersey and New York. If you have a question about this policy or how your information is handled, email ray@corbocounseling.com.
This policy covers the website only. Information you share as a therapy client is governed by the privacy and confidentiality practices provided to you as part of the intake process.
What the website collects
Inquiry form. Your name, email address, optional phone number, the kind of services you are interested in, whatever you choose to write in the message box, and your consent to submit the form. A timestamp is also recorded with the submission.
Free self-check. Your first name, email address, your consent to receive the self-check, and the time you provided that consent.
Spam protection. Forms are protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which uses browser and network information to distinguish people from automated traffic. Technical information such as your IP address may be processed for security, spam prevention, and rate limiting.
Analytics. The site uses Google Analytics 4 to understand information such as which pages are visited, generally how visitors arrived at the site, and whether certain site actions were completed. Analytics data is not intentionally connected with information you submit through the site's forms.
What the website does not collect
The website is not intended to collect health, clinical, or diagnostic information. Please don't include sensitive clinical information in website forms or ordinary email.
Payment information is not collected through this website. Payments are handled separately through the SimplePractice client portal.
The website does not require you to create an account, password, or profile.
Corbo Counseling does not sell or rent information submitted through this website for advertising purposes.
Cookies and local storage
Google Analytics uses measurement technologies, including cookies, to help understand how visitors use the website.
The site may also store small pieces of information in your browser's local storage. For example, this may be used to remember that you closed the free self-check invitation or that you already requested the self-check so that you aren't repeatedly shown the same message.
Information stored locally remains on your device and can generally be removed by clearing your browser's stored site data.
Service providers
Corbo Counseling uses third-party service providers to operate the website and communicate with visitors. These may include:
- Cloudflare, for website hosting, security, spam protection, and form processing.
- The site's transactional email provider, for delivering inquiry notifications, automatic responses, and requested resources.
- Google, for website analytics and Google Workspace email.
- SimplePractice, for the secure client portal, scheduling, telehealth, and other practice-management functions.
These providers process information in connection with the services they provide and are subject to their own privacy terms.
How long information is kept
Information collected through the website is kept only as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, for legitimate business or administrative purposes, or as required or permitted by law.
If you request the free self-check or other email resources, your contact information may be retained until you unsubscribe or ask to be removed.
Analytics, security, and spam-prevention information is retained according to the settings and practices of the services used to operate the website.
Unsubscribing, deletion, and questions
Emails sent as part of the self-check or resource list include an option to unsubscribe.
If you'd like to ask what information you've submitted through the website, request a correction, or request deletion of information you've provided, email ray@corbocounseling.com or use the contact page.
I'll respond to reasonable requests, subject to any information that Corbo Counseling is required or permitted to retain.
Security
The website is served over HTTPS, and forms are submitted over an encrypted connection. However, ordinary email and website inquiry forms should not be used to send sensitive clinical information.
Once you're a client, sensitive information can be shared through the secure client portal or during sessions.
Crisis information
This website is not monitored for emergencies and cannot provide immediate crisis support.
If you are in immediate danger or need immediate support, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or call 911.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated as the website, its services, or applicable requirements change. When it is updated, the date at the top of this page will be revised.
